Welcome to Hip-nosis

The Hip-nosis dance troupe is a performance troupe that consists of some of the most talented bellydancers in Northern B.C. Our troupe is dedicated to continually improving our dance skills and creating high quality group choreographies.

Each member of Hip-nosis practices during class time and outside of class to bring the group dances to the highest level. By joining the group, you must commit to coming to all dance practices. When one person is absent, it is tough on the whole group since certain moves rely on every person to create her part of the formation.

In each session of advanced classes, we learn a new choreography. Over the years, we have kept some of the best dances as part of our troupe set. When we do shows, we usually do two or three large group dances and then we fill out the set with smaller group dances and solos.

To become part of the Hip-nosis Troupe, you need to learn two of our most popular group choreographies. The first dance that you should master is choreography to "Chicky" by Oojami. It is a skirt dance. You need to know this dance by the end of September. We will practice it during the first Hip-nosis practice.

The second dance that you need to learn is choreographed to "Il Alem Allah" by Amr Diab. You should learn this dance by the end of the second week in October.

To become part of the troupe, you only need to learn the skirt and zil dances. Once you have become part of the troupe, you can turn your attention to learning "Habibi Ya Ini." For now, just concentrate on the first two dances.
