Come to the Della Herman Theatre in Smithers on Friday June 13 to see the Poetry in Motion Middle Eastern Dance Show. Omana and the Hipnosis dancers (along with a few guest dancers) combine their talents to produce a spectacular dance show that features a wide range of Middle Eastern dance styles. Get your tickets early because this event is sure to sell out.

Midsummer Festival

Drum Solo Workshop. In this workshop, participants will learn the moves to a sexy drum solo. After learning the choreography, Omana will break the choreography and music apart to show participants how to create their own choreographies to drum solos.

Workshop #2

Wings of Isis Workshop. In this workshop, participants will learn all of the basics about moving with the wings of isis. In addition, they will learn a choreography. Omana will supply wings for all participants to use in the workshop.

Time

Each workshop runs for 2 hours.

Auditions

The "Dream it, Dance it, Live it" show is a showcase of the talented Hipnosis Middle Eastern Dance Troupe and some special guests. The show is going to take place in April at the Della Herman Theatre in Smithers. The Hipnosis troupe will perform four group numbers during the 1.5 hour long show. In addition, some Hipnosis troupe members will perform small group numbers and solos. The special guest performances will be mixed in throughout the show.All Auditions for the show must be sent to Omana by April 12th.If you would like to be a special guest and perform with the Hipnosis Troupe at the "Dream it, Dance it, Live it" Show, then you audition in one of the following ways.

1.You can perform in person for Omana. To do so, you need to contact Omana to set up your audition time. Email omana at omana@mapleleafpro.net

1. Your real name,

2. Your dance name

4. The name of the song and band to which you are dancing

6. You must be wearing the costume in which you would like to perform

7. Your submission must show you entering and exiting the stage as well as doing your dance (this is important because you are performing from the moment that the music starts).

December 2007

Thursday Dec. 6- Omana's class dinner and recital. Omana's beginner tribal class is coming to an end. The dancers are going to show you what they've learned. This event is designed to highlight the achievements of the dancers from the tribal class, but other seasoned dancers from the valley will perform as well.

Location: Java's Restaurant

Time: Dinner is from 5:00 pm -6:00 pm. The dancing portion of the show starts around 6:00 pm and ends at 7:30 pm.

Cost: The only cost for this event is that you are expected to buy some food at Java's.

Friday Dec. 7- This date marks the last beginner tribal class for the fall session. Make sure that you sign up for Omana's January classes soon. Omana is running a wings of Isis class, a raks esharqui/tribal class, and a performance troupe class.

August 2007

August 22 - Come out to see the Hipnosis Bellydance Troupe taking part in the Fall Fair Parade in Smithers. The parade starts at the Train Station and proceeds down Main St.

August 23 - Omana's Hipnosis Youth Troupe is performing at the Fall Fair on Main Stage at 4:00 pm.

August 26 - Omana and the Hipnosis Troupe is performing at the Fall Fair on Main Stage at 12:00 pm

July 2007

July 19-22 - Omana and Lynette Harper are instructing at the 2nd annual Northern Bellydance Camp. The theme for this year's camp is "Branching Out." Dancers of all levels are welcome to attend.

July 27-29 - Omana and the Hipnosis Bellydance Troupe are performing at the Kispiox Festival. You can see the troupe perform their set on Saturday at 5:00 pm in the hall. You can learning to shake and shimmy at the two workshops that Omana is hosting at the festival. The first workshop is on Saturday at 1:00 pm in the Kid's Zone. The second workshop is on Sunday at 4:00 pm in the Kid's Zone.

March 2007

March 10 - The Secret of the Oasis Show is going to feature many talented Middle Eastern dancers from Northern B.C. The show will be held on Saturday March 10th, at the Della Herman Theatre in Smithers. The show starts at 7:00 pm and tickets cost $11.00. Tickets can be purchase at the Mountain Eagle Bookstore in Smithers.

February 2007

February 17 - Omana and some members of the Hipnosis dance troupe will perform a few dances at the Teresa Pasluko and Friends Show at the Della Herman Theatre in Smithers.

February 24 - Hot Arabian Nights have never been hotter. In addition to the usual spectacular dance show, this night will also be a chance for dancers to audition for the Secret of the Oasis Show that will take place on March 10th at the Della Herman Theatre in Smithers.

January 2007

October 21 - Omana is dancing in Vancouver at M.E.D.A.'s annual show. This year's show features the legendary Morroco. The show takes place in Burnaby at the James Cowan Theatre. Tickets are $18.00 for M.E.D.A. members and $20.00 for non-members. Go to the M.E.D.A. website for more information.

October 28 - Come to the Old Church in Smithers for another Hot Arabian Nights session. The night includes a one hour bellydance show that features dances from Omana's advanced students and the Hipnosis dance troupe. In addition, her beginner class will perform one number. After the show, get ready to shimmy the night away to the tunes of DJ Abul. Tickets cost $7.00.

August 10-13 - It's your turn to dance! Join Omana and Lynette Harper as they instruct at the Northern Bellydance Camp. The camp takes place at Driftwood Hall in Smithers.

August 23 - See the Hipnosis Bellydance Troupe when you come out to watch the Fall Fair parade in Smithers. The parade starts at 6:30 pm.

August 25 - Omana, Francis Bucher, Mike Doogan-Smith, and Jared Clegg are performing a jazz set at the Fall Fair in Smithers at 4:00 pm

Saturday July 1 - Omana and Francis Bucher are performing at the Narnia Farm Canada Day Celebration. This a jazz music set in which Omana sings and plays trumpet.

Friday July 7 - Omana is perfoming at the beautiful Bluenose II Restaurant in Cowichen Bay on Vancouver Island (near Duncan). Omana is performing a one hour Middle Eastern Dance set.

Saturday June 10 - Hipnosis is performing in Smithers at D.A.F. Grad from 10:00 - Midnight.

Saturday June 17 - Hipnosis is performing at the Farmers' Market in Smithers. Omana is also performing with Francis Bucher's Hot Little Jazz Band at the same market. The performances go from 9:30 am - 12:00 pm.

Saturday June 24 - Omana is performing on Stage 3 at the Midsummer Music Festival with the Hipnosis Bellydance Troupe. The show starts at 12:15 pm. You can catch Omana on mainstage with Paquito and the Hep Cats at 3:15 pm.

Wednesday May 3 - Hipnosis is dancing at the Bulkley Lodge in Smithers from 12:30 pm - 1:00 pm. This event is by invitation only.

Friday May 5 - Omana is performing with Francis Bucher's Hot Little Jazz band. Omana will play trumpet and do some vocals. Come out to the Old Church in Smithers to watch this sizzling hot group perform.

Friday May 26 - Due to the outstanding success of the show in March, the Hot Arabian Nights Bellydance Performance and Hafla is coming back in May. Omana, the Hipnosis Bellydance Troupe, and other dancers from the Bulkley Valley will start the night off with a series of Middle Eastern dance performances. Following the show, the dancers and audience will have a chance to dance the night away in a party atmosphere. The show and hafla take place in Smithers, B.C. at The Old Church (7:30 pm - 10:30 pm). Saturday December 3 - Omana is dancing at the beautiful logpile lodge restaurant in Driftwood (Smithers, B.C).

Friday December 16 - Omana is performing a solo Middle Eastern dance show at the Smithers Golf and Country Club.  Many of the dances will feature moves from the raqs sharqui suite.  Omana will also treat the audience to an afrobelly number.  In addition, Omana will dance with the Wings of Isis and veils.

Saturday December 17 - Omana is performing a solo show at the Ski Smithers lodge.

November 2005

Saturday November 12 - Omana is performing in Prince George at a benefit dinner and show. This annual event draws bellydancers from all over Nothern B.C.

Saturday November 18 - Omana is performing at the Music in the Mountains show at the Della Herman Theatre in Smithers. Omana is also performing several solo dances at the show.
